Words of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 17 Nov 2008

Through you they shall know that I am the Lord.

Esther is a remarkable woman. Not because of her beauty, but because she saved God’s people for the hands of the enemy. She did not shrink back because of the heavy weight of persecution. She did not fight back evil for evil against the persecutors. Instead she allowed God to reign, rule, guide, and lead. What made her stand out was her daily lifestyle.

In my opinion, Esther was a woman that consistently read the Word, prayed, and fasting was part of her lifestyle. What is your daily lifestyle like? You see God’s promise to us all is clear, through you they shall know that I am the Lord. But how in the world can we be used if God is not first? On the day of battle how would we react, if we don’t develop a daily lifestyle of worshiping God?

In Esther 4:15 it says, Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.

Esther relied on God and God alone to free the Jews from the hand of Haman. She immediately responded by prayer and fasting for three days. How would you have responded put in her shoes? Would you rely on God or would you rely on your own ability?

Today’s word is very clear. Stop relying on yourself, start developing a daily lifestyle of putting God first, and build Godly habits so that on the day of battle you will respond righteously and not foolishly. God is clear, through you they shall know that I am the Lord. But if we don’t develop our relationship with Him, why would he use us?
