Finding the right balance – the fragile heart

The fragile heart. I hope that today’s topic will not offend anyone because I would like to dive home the importance of parenting and parenting God’s way. The fragile heart stems from the root of a lack of security and identity from their parents, and most of all discipline as a child.

Why am I addressing this imbalance? If we have not brought healing from our past, we will bring our past issues into our adulthood, marriage, and in our work place. Fragile hearts are recognizable. They often jump from relationship to relationship. Seeking security and identity from them. They lack discipline, lack respect in the work place, and often complain over the smallest issues.

Pastor Kenneth Wang from Every Nation Church Singapore, said this key point on one Sunday which has stuck on my heart ever since. “A strong father and daughter relationship, will lead to a strong sense of security in her future.”

I cannot stress the importance of parenting. Today’s topic sends two important messages about find the right balance. One: If you are a parent-start parenting and discipline with love. Two: If you are a product of a fragile heart-start rebuilding your relationship with God. Our security is in God and no one else.

Proverbs 3:11-12 My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.

Proverbs 13:24 He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him.
