Taking Ownership – Friendships

Today’s word of encouragement may seem out of place with the theme of taking ownership. But I hope that we would realize the importance of taking ownership of the friendships that God has given to us.

In my opinion, there will be many friends who know how to have a good time, but there are only a few friends who really want to go deeper. The key is going deeper. These friends want to go deeper in their relationship with God, and they want to grow deeper as well. These friends recognize that the surface level friendships are too shallow.

God makes it clear to us which friendships are built to last for a lifetime, and which friendships will eventually fade away. Today, I hope that we would be challenged by God to renew and to take ownership of the friendships that are God brought about in our lives.

Today, if you feel that all your friendships are surface level friendships, then I pray that we would be challenged by God. Challenged to take the step of faith to get out of our comfort zone. God will reveal to us and bring people into our lives. It is a matter of fine-tuning our hearts with His to know.

Taking Ownership – Mark your teritory

Today’s word of encouragement is about claiming and taking ownership of the teritory God has given us. To make an impact for God’s kingdom requires comitted hearts, desiring the will of God over our own desires and needs.

Everyones teritory is different. For some of us, our teritory is in the finanical world, some teachers, some in arts, the list goes on and on. But the key is, are we working because of “$$” or are we working focused on taking onwership of the teritory God has called us to?

The principle of Kingdom Driveness must be the solid and firm foundation of our daily lives. In my opinion what is the point of living in this world just to be rich and wealthy? However, to fulfill the plans and purposes that God has given us, now that money cannot even buy.

Today, you may already know your teritory that God wants you to take ownership of. For some of us, we may not know excatly what our teritory is. It is never to late to take ownership of our teritory. Let us not shrink back, but let us press on!

Taking ownership- The dirty work

We need to take care of our health, eat properly, and sleep well. Isn't this the most common statement we have heard from our parents and doctor? Today's word of encouragement is doing the dirty work to take responsibility and to build good habits in our lives.

No one can live your life for you. We need to take ownership of the life God has given to us. I wonder, have we taken ownership of the life God has given us, YOU!

I realize that responsibility and habits are not only important for our health, but in every aspect of life. It amazes we how if we gain 2kg (about 4.4lbs) we start exercising, eating properly, and taking drastic measure to reduce our weight. How about our spiritual walk?

Reading the Word of God, we call ourselves sons and daughters of God, but we have yet to read the whole Bible. So we can eat properly build good habits in our diet, yet we can't even read the Bible?

Sin Patterns. We recognize our sin patterns and we know exactly what areas we need to work on, yet countless times we fall prey. Once again, how is it that we can exercise routinely and keep healthy yet, when it comes to our spiritual health we have such bad habits?

Are we prepared to do the dirty work, to take ownership of our bad habits? Are we ready to do the dirty work for our spiritual health? What will it take us to start?

Taking ownership- Mountain moving faith!

Matthew 17:19-20 Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

As I write today’s word of encouragement, I sense that many of us need to reignite the fire and zeal in our hearts again. To have mountain moving faith. I sense weariness, spiritual drought, and spiritual routines that have killed our passion to die to our cross daily. Today, God wants to revive us, let us take ownership of what God wants to do in us all.

In order to attain mountain moving faith, we must first take ownership of what God has given us. (1) Declare His promises over us. (2 Kings 4:1-7) Just as Elisha told the widow to find as many jars as can, fill them and sell them. We never stop declaring His promises.

(2) Claim it all, and receive God’s promises. I am remembered of the King who struck the ground JUST three times ONLY!! (2 Kings 13:18). Common!!!! Are we going to stop claiming God promises for us just three times. Let us have faith! Mountain moving faith that never stops striking the ground because we want all, ALL OF GOD’S PROMOSES OVER OUR LIVES.

(3) Give thanks and glory to God always! When God blesses us, even with the smallest things in our eyes, we always give thanks to God. When we stop giving thanks to God and giving glory to God, we are doomed for failure and destruction just like King Saul, just like King Solomon, just like many men and women who have gone before us.

Taking ownership- Excuses, excuses

It is time we stop making excuses and begin to take ownership for our own actions. God see’s everything, and there is no where to run or to hide.

Today word of encouragement is not meant to hurt feelings, but instead, to gain a different perspective on taking ownership of our mistakes, flaws, weaknesses, and sins.

I believe that when we have embraced and taken ownership of all our garbage in our hearts, it is then that we begin to walk fully in the blessings that God has given us.

Today, let us receive the blessings that God wants to give us, what are we waiting for?

Taking ownership- Wanting, and yearning.

Have you been trying to have children for years? Have you wanted a better job, a higher paying job? Have you been yearning to get into a good school? Does your heart cry out to God with questions of why, why aren’t things going my way? Or Why God, why aren’t you hearing me?

Is your heart bitter or have you found peace? Maybe God is trying to speak to us, wanting us to heal our past. I believe that God wants us to take ownership of our lives, bringing complete cleansing and healing of our past.

We may have been hurt from past relationships, memories of them, there maybe unsettled and unresolved issues, and today God wants us all to take ownership. To take ownership of our wants and yearnings. This means nailing them on the cross, asking God to align our wants and desires to His.

Taking ownership: Your support

Today’s word of encouragement is specifically for women. Whether you are single or married it does not matter. We need to take ownership of what God has given to us. Those of us, who are still single, I encourage you to START RIGHT NOW AND CLAIM OWNERSHIP OF GOD’S PROMISES FOR YOUR FUTURE.

In my opinion, it is powerful and a blessing when God’s children live out and fulfill the roles that God has made specifically for men and women.

Wives. Let us pray for our husbands today, though husbands have been commanded by God to lead their family there is power in this team. Two will become one flesh (Genesis 2:24)! Father, I thank you for my husband, I pray a blessing over his life. Thank you for the man that you have made him. Father, thank you for the destiny and purpose that you have for him. Father, help me love him everyday, help me to support him and encourage him through the good time and the tough times. Help me Father, for I need you and rely on you. Give me the strength not to judge, condemn, and make him feel small and inadequate.

Mothers. Let us pray that the Word of God would be the solid and firm foundation in the hearts of our children today. Pray that your husband and you would be living examples to your children of those that love the Word. Teach your children, be their guide in desiring and wanting to know more of God’s word. Encourage them to seek and run to God. Pray that they will find their destiny and purpose in life.

Singles. If God has planted a desire in your heart to want marriage and to have children of your own, God wants us to start praying and taking ownership of barring the responsibility of being called a wife and mother. Realize that God is in control, and it is in His time not our time. God we pray today, that we would be faithful in praying and believe for our future, help me today to build the right foundations Lord. Prepare me today.

Taking ownership: Your household

Today’s word of encouragement is specifically for men. Whether you are single or married it does not matter. We need to take ownership of what God has given to us. Those of us, who are still single, START RIGHT NOW AND CLAIM OWNERSHIP OF GOD’S PROMISES FOR YOUR FUTURE.

Today, God wants us to build our foundations firm and strong, so that when the enemy attacks our foundations will not give way so easily.

If God has given you a wife today, let us pray a blessing over her. Father, I thank you for my wife, I pray a blessing over her life and what You have planned for her. Father, help me love her everyday, and love her more as we grow older together. Help me Father, for I am weak. Give me the strength to stay faithful and keeping my covenant with my eyes.

If God has given you children today, pray for each child. Claim God’s promises for each child, and pray that God will give you strength to be their light and guide. Guide them to our Lord, build their foundation in the Word, and teach them how to build their relationship with God.

Claim God’s blessings and protection. Those of us, who have a home, claim God’s protection. If we are praying for a home of our own, pray that God will give us favor, and teach us how to budget our finances properly.

God has called us to lead our homes, let us lead by the Word of God. Let God be the foundation of our homes. Today, let us surrender our lives to God to lead and guide us.

Taking ownership

Today I begin on a new series titled taking ownership. It is subtle and silent, but the enemy attacks us bring fear over areas where God has called us to take ownership of. OUR DESTINY!

I remember when I was back in primary and secondary school. Fear of exams, fear of failing, and fear of disappointment were the most prominent in my heart, yet no one knew it. Today, your own children may be facing these things but they don’t tell you.

Let us claim ownership of our destiny’s today. God has given each of us a calling, and yet when the enemy strikes we shrink back into our shells.

As our children face their exams let us not put more pressure on them to do well, instead let us encourage them, let us be their pillars of faith, praying and fasting for them that they will raise up as young men and women of God and grab hold of their destiny’s.

In Jesus name we pray, amen!

Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 23 Aug 2008

What more do we want? Our Father dwells in our hearts.

As mentioned yesterday, if everything was taken away from us would you still love God? Job is a living testimony of this. The world will continue to remember him, because not once did he curse God despite having everything taken away from him and living in pain as well.

The life of Job shows us that when our Father dwells in our hearts, we want nothing more. In my opinion having Jesus Christ dwell in my heart is worth more than anything in this world. But the question I have to ask myself is, do I really say what I mean?

We all have dreams. We all want to be used by God. Today, if God has not dwelt in your heart for awhile, welcome Him again. What more could we ever want in life than having God dwell in us.

Matthew 7:9-11 Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

What more do we want? Destiny

No matter how small you may feel, or others around you may be rich and have everything. SO WHAT! Everyone has a destiny and even a small part in the Kingdom of God is worth more than millions of dollars in your bank account.

God has given you a destiny, unique, no one else can fulfill that purpose but YOU! What more do we want?

I hope that today’s word of encouragement would wake us up. Imagine, God has given you/me a destiny that is unique, and only you/I can fulfill that. The question I have is, have we take God for granted?

Finally, my last question which leads to my word of encouragement for tomorrow is this; Would you still love God if everything was taken away from you?

Matthew 7:9-11 Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

What more do we want? A pain free life

Today’s word of encouragement is about changing our perspective on failure. When I look at a young child who has gone through adversity it makes my hair stand. I know that God is going to use them in such a powerful way to make an impact for the Kingdom of God. Young children faced with their parents going through a divorce. Faced with failure, death of a parent, or even faced with a major illness.

In the Olympics a young Chinese boy walked on the open ceremony together with Yao Ming. I know that God is going to use him mightily. After surviving through the Sichuan earthquake, he went back into the rubble and saved another two kids from his class.

Being put to the test, faced with adversity, failure, how will you respond?

However, when I look at lazy children, children who argue with their parents, demand material things from their parents, and children who take for granted the gifts and talents that God has given to them, I’m sorry but I see a destiny that is limited.

No matter how smart we may be, the top schools we went to, the high paying jobs, so what! God uses those that love him through it all. God, is waiting for us…WHAT MORE DO WE WANT?

Matthew 7:9-11 Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

What more do we want? Nail Pierced Hands

Today’s word of encouragement is going to be personal. It is just between you and God. I hope that we will be able to face tomorrow and life ahead by putting things into the right perspective. The question, What more do we want, is such an invaluable question. God has given to us so much, He even died for our sins, and yet we still want more.

God died for me. His nail pierced hands are all I see right now. Yet I want more from God? What more do we want? Today, let us devote time to God. Let us thank God for all that He has given to us. All that He has provided for us.

The next time we start demanding from God, I hope that we would remember His nail pierced hands.
