Finding the right balance – hyper spiritualism

Hyper spiritualism is a vital topic to address as we focus on finding the right balance. God is the author, creator, and definer of the spiritual realm. ANYTHING BEYOND THAT IS NOT GOD.

How do I know if I’m too spiritual beyond God? Only God can tell you. Ask and God will tell you.

When I started building a closer relationship with God, there were times when I became too hyper spiritual. I know this because I asked God. Three key things happened which I hope it will open our eyes to what hyper spiritualism does.

1) Do we strike fear when we enter a place of worship with idols, incense, and chanting? Do we become weird? This is being too hyper spiritual because God is greater than any idol. God is the beginning and the end, there is no one before him. God has given us the power not to fear any idol.

2) Are we so sensitive to our spiritual state that it hinders us from building friendships with “non-Christians”? This is being too hyper spiritual because we can start judging and condemning. This is not our job, it is God’s. We could start building cliques, and only spending time with people who are like minded. God treasure every sheep, the one that gets lost, He will still treasure it and find it.

3) Are we so sensitive to our spiritual state that we condemn “pre-believers” because of their way of life? This is being too hyper spiritual. Jesus spent time with the poor, the prostitutes, tax collectors, gamblers, the despised, the judged. Am I so holy that I cannot reach out and help these people?

In my opinion hyper spiritualism is dangerous, if it is out of control. Dangerous because we are not God. We must draw the line and draw it boldly. I am human, mortal, a sinner, and flawed. God is the beginning and the end, perfect, without flaw, and pure.

Isaiah 46:9-11 I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make know the end from the beginning from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will no all that I please.
