Prayers for the youth and marriages – 31 Mar 2009

Prayers for the youth and marriages – 31 Mar 2009

Ecclesiastes 11:6 Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let not your hands be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well.

We pray right now that our children would be known as men and women who are diligent. We pray that the seeds that they have sown in their lives for their future would be pleasing in Your sight.

Lord, we pray for every child that is growing idle and lazy. We pray that the Lord would teach them discipline. Father, no matter how long and how hard they may fall, it is necessary for our youth to wake up. It is necessary for us all to wake up. Proverbs 10:4 Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.

We pray for those that have had everything provided for because of their parents. Father, we pray for these children. We pray that they would not take life for granted. We pray that their eyes would be opened today. Help them see what burdens our Lord. Father, we pray that they would begin to take action. Where they can be used to make a difference.

Without a doubt, every child has been made by You Lord. For a great purpose. We pray that no one would rob our children of their destiny. We pray that they would not let, laziness, wealth, and hardships rob them. In Your name we pray, amen.

Father, we pray for every couple right now and every parent. We pray that husbands and wives would instil the Lord’s discipline in their lives.

A true testimony of a son and daughter of God, is not by how much “stuff” they have. Not by their wealth or material gain, but by their hearts, their fruits of their hands. Today, we pray that husbands and wives, fathers and mothers would work on their character. Help us to be discipline and not lazy.

Father, we pray specifically for all fathers and mothers. We pray that they would be able to disciple their children. Help them to pass on gifts, blessings, and strong values. Help us understand right now that whether or not we like it, we are passing on things into our children. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Father, open our hearts. Open our ears, help us listen to Your voice. As You lead, we pray that our homes will be defined by You. We pray that the love of the Lord will overflow. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

Firm and solid foundations – the Lord is my anchor

The very foundation of our lives must be built on the Lord. Today, is God our anchor? The main reason why God wants us to spend so much time on building firm and solid foundations is because of this simple word: meaning. If God is not our anchor we have no meaning in life. Only God can give meaning to our existence. There is a clear distinction between those that are anchored in our Lord and those that aren’t. I pray that we would examine what our anchors are in life.

Money issues should never be our “main” anchor. The key word is: main. Money is important, but not as important as our relationship with God. Ecclesiastes 5:10 Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless.

Whether or not we are poor or rich, we must meditate on Ecclesiastes 5:10. Do we love money? Do we love wealth? Do we lack money that it fuels our lives? Do we lack wealth to the point that it drives us? Does money define our existence?

Do not be dependent on people as our anchor. I pray that we would not hold on to relationships to define our existence and to gain meaning in life. Some people want to be ASSOCIATED WITH THE RICH, FAMOUS, POWERFUL, and INFLUENTIAL. Why? So that they too can be looked upon with meaning. We are defined by God and not people. People can become a crutch if we are not careful, because we become too dependent on people and not God.

God is our anchor we cannot take the bits and pieces we like. If God is our anchor today, I pray that we would be committed fully 100%. Countless times in 1 Kings to 2 Kings (1 Kings 15:14, 2 Kings 12:3, 2 Kings 14:4, 2 Kings 15:4) we find Kings who did not commit fully to God. We must give our all to God, everything WHOLEHEATEDLY. When I read the words, “The high places, however, were not removed; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there” it makes me realise that I too need to check my heart. I too need to repent of my sins and lack of commitment to God because if I don’t I will fall short in everything.

Are our anchors getting worn out, do they need to be strengthened? Today, I pray that we would be encouraged to clean, lubricate, and strengthen our anchors in life. We want to because all we want to grab onto and hold onto is God. It is time we get serious with our quiet time with God. It is time we read the Word of God with passion. It is time we pray with God. It is time we strengthen our anchors if not, there will be nothing to grab on to because it is rusty, weak, and not unstable.

Firm and solid foundations – Cementing God’s love

Today’s words of encouragement are a reminder to cement the Lord’s love in our lives. God’s love is unfailing, therefore it is time we stop playing games and build foundations based on the Lord’s love.

When we build love founded on the love of the Lord, watch and see the love of the Lord overflow and touch others around us. I pray that this would be our motivation in life everyday. To bless others. To bless the broken-hearted. The weak are strengthened and the strong are blessed.

Leviticus 19:18 Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbour as yourself. I am the Lord.

Why do we keep seeking revenge? Revenge is the work of the enemy. Paying back evil or evil does not bring resolution to the problem. God knows what is in our hearts. He knows every intent.

Deuteronomy 6:5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

Giving your all to God. Everyday, every single minute of our lives, it is a constant reminder that we have to love our Lord with all our heart, soul, and strength. I pray that we would never let our guard down. I pray that we would be constantly reminded to love God.

Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.

If we fail to recognise the love of our Lord, we have failed to experience the love of our Lord that has lasted thousands of generations. Isn’t it amazing how many bitter and angry people there are in this world because God didn’t do things their way? Because of suffering? Because of trials? It is time we experience the fullness of God’s love which is not partial.

Psalm 4:2 How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods?

How long? God doesn’t want to withhold His blessings and love towards us. However, the ball is on our court. God will not ever force us to love Him. It is up to us. How long will it take for us to change?

Prayers for the youth and marriages – 29 Mar 2009

Proverbs 19:27 Stop listening to instruction, my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge.

Father, we thank you for the saving grace and mercy that You have unconditionally given to us all. Today, we pray that our children would be able to understand this.

Father, we pray for every single child that has grown up in broken homes. We pray for those that have single parents, for those that have grown up in unhealthy home environments where homosexuality is considered normal. Father, today we do not want to condemn or to put down as though we are better.

Today, we pray that the Lord Jesus Christ would be established in every heart. We pray that You would convict us. Help us to be aware of our weaknesses and flaws. Today, we pray that Jesus Christ would be exalted above the earth. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

Father, we pray for every marriage right now. Thank You Lord for the battles, trials, and tests.

We pray for those that are currently going through economic and financial difficulties. We pray that love and unity would be strengthened during these times and not the other way around. We pray that wives would stand by husbands and husbands would stand by their wives.

We pray that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ would be exalted in our homes. We pray that our children would be able to learn from our struggles. Help us to focus on our relationship with You. You are all that matters, and we pray that You would guide us in everything. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

Praying For Slovakia and Principe and for the poor – 29 Mar 2009

1 Samuel 2:8 He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; He seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. For the foundations of the earth are the Lord’s; upon them He has set the world.

Father we pray for the nation of Slovakia today. We pray that You would protect this nation, its people, and open the eyes of Your sons and daughters so that they may be used mightily by You.

You love this nation so dearly Lord. We pray right now that righteous men and women would rise to prominence. We pray that they would be used in key areas in society so that they can make a lasting impact.

We pray right now that generations would be impacted. We pray that families, homes, education, government entities, and businesses would be impacted greatly today because of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Today, we pray that the name of our Lord will be exalted throughout the world. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

Father, we pray that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ would be exalted, praised and lifted up in every home. From the rich to the poor, from the hungry and dying, from the homeless and those who are critically ill.

Father, we pray right now that You would shower the earth right now with a powerful awakening. We pray that You would strike our hearts and souls where it hurts so that we may be able to understand and comprehend where we have taken You for granted.

When we look around there are millions that need help. There are nations in desperation, and yet we do nothing. Lord, today, we proclaim the name of the Lord throughout all the earth. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

Firm and solid foundations – Cementing God’s promises

God’s promises must be cemented in our hearts. When we cement God’s promises in our hearts, there isn’t any room inside it to allow the enemy to control, to take over, and to destroy. Today, I pray that we would be encouraged to regain our strength from the Lord because of His promises that He has given us.

We must not give up believing that His promises will come to pass. I am reminded of Abraham and Sarah. They took things into their own hands, because they didn’t believe that God would give them a child in their old age. I pray that the lives of Abraham and Sarah would be a source of encouragement to us today. We must cement God’s promises in our hearts and never let anyone, anything, rob us of His promises.

God’s promises to us are a source of strength. They are our strong pillars when we are down. They are a source of fuel when our flame grows faint. When the battles in life seem impossible, God’s promises become a mighty wall that protects. The enemy may destroy our homes, take away material things, but the promises from God can never be destroyed. Nothing and no one can ever take away what is rightfully ours, because it is from the Lord.

Do we know His promises? Our relationship with God is the most important thing in life. The basis to anything is Him. If we do not know what God’s promises are for our lives, means we do not know God. It is time we work on our relationship with God so that we will know His promises. What are we waiting for?

Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?
