Absolutely non-negotiable – stop making excuses

Stop making excuses is an absolute non-negotiable. People who make up excuses cannot admit to their mistakes. In my opinion, they are childish and cannot be taken seriously.

1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.

If we have children, what message are we teaching them by making excuses? It is time we stop! It is time we put our childish ways behind and begin to walk out our destiny. One without making excuses.

Be quick to admit mistakes. The ability to say sorry, yes it is my fault, and being first to admit that you were in the wrong, shows something about a person and his/her character. Today, I pray that we would strive to ascertain the ability to admit mistakes.

Making up excuses only provides temporary resolution. The first person ever to make an excuse to God was Adam when he blamed Eve for making him eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge. Why do we make up excuses? Because, it provides a quick solution to the problem. Because, we don’t want to deal with the real underlying issue. Because, we want people’s pity. There are countless reasons why we make up excuses, but I hope we realize that making excuses achieves nothing in the long term.

Maybe God is saying to you: the reason why you can’t find a job is because you lack discipline, you are lazy, and you need to work on your character.

Maybe God is saying to you: you haven’t really forgiven your mother/father. You say you do, but your actions don’t show it.

Maybe God is saying to you: stop running from relationship after relationship. You need to stop finding false comfort.

God is clear! Are we going to keep making up excuses?

We fall but we pick ourselves up. Learning from your mistakes is vital and something that we must INGRAIN IN OUR LIVES. Let’s start admitting to our mistakes and start changing our character. I pray that we would not tolerate excuses in life. We cannot runaway from the truth.
