Firm and solid foundations – worship

There is power in worship. How we worship God in public, in secret, in difficult times, in good times, in seasons of joy and sorrow, reveal a persons foundations.

In public. Everywhere we go, we must recognise that we are examples of Christ. How we act, how we talk to people, how we sing praises to God, are all forms of worship to God. I pray that we would be discerning with our actions when we are in public. There is a danger that we can get carried away, and the attention is drawn to us and not on God.

Mark 12:41-45 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny…Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything-all she had to live on.”

In secret. On Sunday, it is easy to put on the show. Acting like we are a happy family, acting like we are a good “Christian”, acting like we have no issues, and acting is just acting. We must answer this question: What is really going on inside us, in secret, that people cannot see but God does? God sees everything in our hearts.

God rewards those who worship in secret. People who worship in secret do not boast about their accomplishments. They do not praise themselves about how “holy” and great they are. Matthew 6:18 Our Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

No matter what, I will worship You Lord. Can we say this with 100% confidence? Every difficult situation we have ever been through in life, I pray that we would hold to the Word of God dearly. Because it is filled with stories that will encourage us to worship Him. Remember Job. He suffered so much, lost his children, and yet not once did He curse God. I pray that we would remember Peter. He boldly said to Jesus that He would never deny His name, yet He denied Jesus three times. But Peter didn’t have a pity party from that point. He dealt with his insecurity, issues, repented, and moved on! Peter’s life after that point was amazing!!! I pray we too would want that life.

The Bible is filled with so many amazing testimonies. Today, how are we worshiping God? Worship is a vital foundation in life. We must strengthen it.
