Words of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 21 Mar 2009

Firm and solid foundations – humility comes before honour Proverbs 15:33 The fear of the Lord teaches a man wisdom, and humility comes before honour. The gift of humility is a solid foundation. Something that many of us need everyday. It takes humility to avoid conflict, strife, and the works. It takes humility to honour others, or to let others take the credit when you know you did majority of the work. Don’t let pride get in the way. In my opinion pride is a form of insecurity. When we promote ourselves, when we want to be recognised, when we push aside others to get to the top, these are clear signs that we have weakened our foundations. God uses the humble, not the proud to do His will. Peter 5:5 God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. How we respond determines our foundations. Sometimes in a heated argument, we have a choice of how to respond. (1) We know that by submitting, and choosing to be humble, it will stop all arguments. (2) We can choose not to be humble, we yell back, fight back, because it feels good, because we feel it is our right. But in the end people are left more hurt than solving the issue. I sense that many of us are currently in the midst of conflict. We may feel confused and do not know how to handle the issues. I pray that we would rely on God to guide us and direct us. I pray that no matter what, we would choose to respond in humility. Finally, I pray that we would remember that the Lord brings to justice the unjust. Let God fight our battles! Let God judge.
