Absolutely non-negotiable – not living in debt

Not living in debt is an absolute non-negotiable. The foundational and root cause to our current economic crisis stems from the subprime crisis in the United States. Imagine banks buying billions of dollars worth of bad loans. Loans which people cannot pay back because of bad credit. It saddens my heart to know that people would create these financial instruments just to make money.

Today, I pray that we would be encouraged to not live in debt. God is our provider, and living within our means is way better than being rich but empty in the inside.

Unnecessary stress. Living in debt causes unnecessary stress. Furthermore, debt causes us to lose our focus on what is most important in life. To be able to be fully used by God is more important to me, than spending 25 years of my life trying to pay off a loan. Imagine how many people right now have lost their focus, forgotten about their destiny, and gave up their dreams because of debt. To be honest I feel that the enemy has stolen many dreams because of money and debt.

Quick way to success leads to disaster. Materialism is the quickest way to lose your destiny. When we let worldly possessions take over our lives, God becomes miniscule, insignificant, and pointless. I pray that we would never gamble our lives away because of debt.

Living in debt means you are a slave to the bank. Here is a picture I would like to paint you today. When we live in debt, we are slaves to the bank. However, when we give our lives fully to God, we are slaves to Him. I choose to be a slave to God than to money.

Romans 6:15-18 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey-whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
