Absolutely non-negotiable – Lead by example Leading by example is an absolute non-negotiable. There have been many leaders in history who have lead by example and many who haven’t. Today, we must recognise that no matter where we stand in society, we must lead by example. We may not be famous, but so what. We still have the ability to influence those around us. Be an example to the next generation. How can we tell our children not to use foul language, when we ourselves use foul language? We must recognise that our children are like sponges. Absorbing everything that they can learn. What are we feeding our children? Be an example to your peers. What message are we sending our peers if we treat people disrespectfully. People may have all the qualities to quantify “a good leader”. Went to the best schools, graduated with top scores, working at the top companies, but if their character is dirty in the inside, if they are bad examples, in my opinion they will fail at leading. What are your moral standards? God has given us His Word, to guide, teach, and to show us the life we are to lead. However, nothing is more important than our relationship with Him. If God is our standard, then are we being good examples of Christ today? 1 Peter 5:2-4 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, serving as overseers-not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.
