Firm and solid foundations – test of character The test of character is just as important as the test of faith. The Word of God says in Proverbs 12:4, “A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.” What an image. I pray that we would realise the importance and value in building our character. Good character builds strong and firm foundations. However, bad character is like decay in our bones. The plank in your own eye. Matthew 7:3 Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? The word of God says that we are not to judge people. Or else we too will be judged. Matthew 7:1 Do not judge, or you too will be judged. In my opinion, I’m just glad that our Lord is our ultimate judge. Today, I pray that we would not be critical towards each other. I pray that we would not put down peoples character. Instead let us build each others character, and encourage one another to work on our flaws. Lead by example. The true test of character is not to be self-righteous and right all the time. However, it is simply living by example. If we claim that Jesus is our Lord and saviour, then do we really live by His example? The test of our character builds stronger foundations. If we are only willing to work on our character. I pray that we would be encouraged to work on our character.
