Words of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 23 Mar 2009

Firm and solid foundations – unwavering convictions 1 Kings 18:21 How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him… Are our decisions in life based on wavering convictions? Feelings? Desire? Doubt? Today, I believe that God wants us to focus on developing unwavering convictions which are vital foundations in life. Every decision we make in life has a consequence. There are countless stories in the Bible of great men and women who had to pay the price because of wavering convictions. In this day-and-age there are also countless stories of men and women who have to pay the price because of wavering convictions. We must be grounded by strong convictions. Circumstances in life sometimes force us to weaken our convictions. Some people really want to get married. They feel like their “shelf-life” is expiring soon, so they take things into their own hands so that they can get married and have children. I pray that we would evaluate the consequences. If we marry someone that God has not intended, we will have to pay the consequences. God is a redeeming God. No matter what, God loves us. We can make foolish decisions in life, but God will not stop us, we will have to pay the price for our mistakes, but He still loves us. If we have made mistakes in our pass, God is encouraging us to stop moping about it, repent, take the Lord’s discipline as love and move on! Deuteronomy 8:5 Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you. Why do we need strong convictions? The battles and tests in life are not easy. Sometimes the enemy’s temptations are irresistible. Those with strong convictions will not waver. They have strong foundations and roots that will not allow them to fall so easily. Sometimes the enemy’s persecution is uncontrollable. We question God, we question our faith, but if we are fully surrendered to God. If we know who the Lord of lords is, we will not waver we will not doubt. Be assured of tests, trials, and battles in life. Those that God loves are tested. Those that He doesn’t love are not.
