Words of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 7 Jan 2009

Of this world but not bound to it – we are His children Often when I ride the bus to work or the train home, I’m observing and praying for people. I often ask God, “What is going on in their life?” Sometimes I sense darkness, depression, sadness, and worry. But my heart lightens up with joy and peace when I see those that are filled with joy and abundance of life. Ephesians 5:8-10 (NKJV) For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. Verse 10 in the New International Version says, “find out what pleases the Lord. Today, have we found what pleases the Lord? We are of this world but we cannot be bound to it. If we are bound to the world we will find it hard to believe that we are HIS CHILDREN. The world is bound to darkness, depression, sadness, and worry. However, the children of God walk as children of light. Yes, we may face the same storms of life as the world. However, nothing will cause us to side track, or be blown away in the storm (just like the current economic crisis). Today, let us thank God for the storms in life. Thank God for the test of character.
