The 6 things the Lord hates, 7 that are detestable to Him #6 A false witness who pours out lies Proverbs 6:16-19 There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers. Our Lord Jesus detests mouths that lie under oath. Under oath is a powerful statement and in my opinion it is something that we should not take lightly. Are we under oath everyday? Or, only when we go to court? Small “white” lies to bigger lies, are they weighed and measured equally? How about this mentality: I’ll wait until I’m about to die to decide if God is really my “thing”. Now I just want to live life, MY WAY. Everyday we are under oath. Everyday we are tested. Our character is put to the test. We can wait till we are about to die to choose if God is really our thing, but how sad.
