The 6 things the Lord hates, 7 that are detestable to Him #1 Haughty eyes
Proverbs 6:16-19 There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.
Haughty, arrogant, proud, conceited, self-absorbed, self-centered. These are just a short list of what haughty means. Why in the world would God hate those who have haughty eyes?
In my opinion our eyes are precious and from the Lord. The very fact that we have the ability to see is treasured. In some ways I view vision as purity from the Lord. Arrogant eyes on the other hand, are people with eyes that have been corrupted. They may think they are righteous, but their eyes have deceived them.
Self-check time: Some haughty eyes go to church and act as though they are clean as squeak. Some haughty eyes preach the gospel and touch THOUSANDS. Some haughty eyes still hold influential and powerful positions "as a son/daughter of God".
If we know we have been arrogant, let us pray for forgiveness, let us lay down our lives to God today. Regain our strength from God today. Let us confess and not conceal our sins.
Proverbs 28:13 He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
