Absolutely non-negotiable – respect Showing respect to people is an absolute non-negotiable. The greatest command of all is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind (Matthew 22:37). The second is to love your neighbour as yourself (Matthew 22:39). If we want respect, then start respecting others. When we put down people in front of others, it reveals a lot about a person’s character. When we respect people by doing things in silent, it honours them, and honour will definitely be returned. When we yell at waiters, when we put down our parents, or even when we talk back to those in authority, all these factors says something about our character. Today, it is time we recognize the importance of respect. If we are grown up adults who do not exercise respect, we have forgotten God’s two most important commands. How can we know what love is, if we don’t respect others? Let us pray that we would be able to be examples to our children. Let us pray that we can be used by God in our work place. The world is filled with people who disrespect others. But we have the ability to change this statistic. © 2009 Lee Shaun Tzen. www.everynation.org.sg archive: www.shauntzen.blogspot.com |
