Bridging the gap – “Man-made” bridges Ezekiel 22:30 I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none. There is a distinct difference between bridges made by God leading versus man-made bridges. Today I pray that we would choose bridge life’s gaps by God’s way over many other “man-made bridges.” We must realise that, if we try to bridge gaps with our own human ability, we will fail. We recognise the gaps and we want to solve the problem. However, there is a difference between bridging God’s way versus our own ways. ANYTHING DONE OUT OF OUR OWN STRENGTH EQUALS BRIDGES THAT ARE USELESS AND THE GAPS WILL ONLY GROW BIGGER AND BIGGER. The Hidden and forgetting bridges. The two most common bridges that many use are what I call the hidden and forgetting bridges. Instead of allowing God to work in us so that we can bridge the widening gaps, we choose the easier path. The hiding bridge. We hide the fact that there are real issues that need to be dealt with. We hide the fact that there are problems that need to be resolved. Furthermore, we respond by saying, “We don’t have any problems. What are you talking about?” The forgetting bridge. This is the other human bridge we use to solve our issues. We try to forget the issues and problems by making excuses. Most common response is, “Stop bring up the past, the past is already over, it is time to move on.” I hope that we would recognize that “man-made” bridges only give temporary solutions. However, we often choose man-made bridges. Today, we must boldly stand up against man-made bridges and stand up for bridges made by God leading. © 2009 Lee Shaun Tzen. www.everynation.org.sg archive: www.shauntzen.blogspot.com |
