Bridging the gap –the poor Let us pray that today’s words of encouragement would get us motivated to stand in the gap for the poor. To be a bridge for the poor is not easy. In order to be a bridge we must be able to put aside our selfish nature, which is why it is not easy. Proverbs 19:17 He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward him for what he has done. I pray that we would want to stand in the gap for the poor not because of the blessings or rewards, but because we see what God sees. Proverbs 22:2 Rich and poor have this in common: The Lord is the Maker of them all. It saddens my heart when “rich” people only talk about themselves. Proud of the things they have the things they own that no one else can own. When it comes down to it, God is clear. Rich and poor have this in common: The Lord is the Maker of them all. Proverbs 28:27 He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses. God cannot be clearer. Give to the poor and you will lack nothing. Close your eyes to the poor and receive many curses. I hope that we would be able to open our eyes today and see that everywhere in this world there are poor people.
