Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 6 Apr 2008 |

Today’s word of encouragement is about giving your teenage children the opportunity to grow and learn through what I call “Hawk eyes independence”. Hawks have one of the best visions of all living creatures; from miles away they are able to spot their prey. Hawk eyes independence means, from a distance we are aware of what is happening with our teenagers, but we give them space to grow, learn, fail, and make mistakes. As parents, we have to develop hawk eyes with our children. It is important for us to let go, otherwise we will suffocate our children’s full potential. However, like hawk eyes we always have our eyes on them even when they don’t know it. It would be foolish to let our children run wildly, especially if we don’t know what our teenagers are going through. The enemy uses every opportunity to distort the minds of our children; therefore we as parents must discipline and be their lifeguard at the same time. The greatest part about being a Godly Parent is that, God voice leads us and not our own voice.
