| In times of adversity, children naturally turn to their parents for comfort. But the greatest test is when parents go through adversity themselves. Your children are looking at your every move, every response; how parents handle trials determines so much of a child’s character as they grow up. Your temper, anger, love, affection, gentleness, respect towards others, your lack of organization or great organization, your stress levels shooting up, your humor, your reliance on God or lack of reliance on God, your relationship with God, and your “walk the talk” are all noticed. Today, maybe we need to look at the mirror and check: Is my temper out of control? Have I shown discipline, love, affection towards my kids? Has my stress at work affected my relationship with my spouse and children? Love is not defined by money, or the fact that you never scold and yell at your kids. Love is defined by God.
