Words of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 19 Jan 2009

Let God define love in your life In this new series, I believe that God is going to redefine the meaning of love. In my opinion the world has distorted the meaning of love, to the point that it seems WEAK and soft. However, when I read the Word of God, it is evident and clear that love is not weak. In fact, it is strong and hard to achieve. We cannot take the bits and pieces of God that we like, and throw out the rest. There is love in discipline, just as there is love in tenderness. There is love in correction, just as there is love in compassion. These are just examples. But what God is showing us is that, whether it is discipline or tenderness they are of equal weight and value, why? Because, God is the author and definer of love. 1 John 4:7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. How can we ever want to walk into marriage and into a relationship if our definition of love, is distorted? In my opinion many are walking into relationships and marriages with scares and wounds from the past. If we do not allow God to define love in our lives, we will continue to suffer, even in new relationships after relationships. I am encouraged by this new series and I hope that you are too. I believe that as we understand the meaning of love, defined by God, we will be able to walk into relationships and marriage with complete love. Why?
