Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 20 July 2008

Ten Commandments: #8 You shall not steal (Deut. 5:19).

There is a difference between freedom of the world and freedom defined by God.

What do we steal? We steal people’s time, love, gratitude, grace, and mercy. What do we steal from God? I hope you would create your own list of things we steal from God. But right now I know that God wants us to know that we steal and rob from God daily. Every time we act disobediently we steal from God.

The eighth commandment states, you shall not steal. In Ephesians 4:28 the Word of God says, He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.

The commands of God are stated clearly, yet we so easily fall prey. Today, instead of beating ourselves, let us raise our heads. Father, we seek your forgiveness. We seek repentances for our stubbornness; today we turn our eyes to you and long for you and you alone. In your name we thank you, amen.
