Ten Commandments: #5 Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, that your days may be long, and that it may be well with you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you. (Deuteronomy 5:16). There is a difference between freedom of the world and freedom defined by God. The fifth commandment states, you shall honor your parents and if we do so we would have long life and live well in what God has given to us. Today, I hope that we can take the time to honor our parents. Some of us may have parents that have passed away, other may not be in good terms with their parents and have not spoken to them for a long time. But there are a rare few that have a wonderful relationship with their parents and they are walking in the blessing that God has given to them, simply because they chose to honor their parents. If we are carrying any unforgiveness, hurt, anger, bitterness, regret, it is time to let go. The Word of God still remains, if we do not honor our parents we are bring bitterness on ourselves. It is time we forgive our parents and move on, so we can live the life God has given to us to the fullest. © July 2008 Shaun Lee. www.everynation.org.sg archive: www.shauntzen.blogspot.com |
