Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 16 July 2008

Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 16 July 2008

Ten Commandments: #4 Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, as the Lord your God commanded you. (Deuteronomy 5:12-15).

There is a difference between freedom of the world and freedom defined by God.

The fourth commandment states, you shall observe the Sabbath day.

Why in the world is the Sabbath important? Today’s word of encouragement comes at a timely point for some of us. God is reminding us today the importance of resting. The Sabbath is a special day, one which allows us to turn to God for strength.

God made seven days and yet on one of these days we are to rest. Rest is an important part of life and some of us need to rewire, re-align our lifestyle.

Has work consumed all of our time? Has work caused us to neglect spending time with our family, children, and loved ones? Has our financial burden caused us to work harder? Who are we relying on for strength, provision, guidance, and help?

Today, I hope and pray that this word would be a vital part of our lifestyle. We honor the Sabbath because we desire God and God alone.
