Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 14 June 2008

Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 14 June 2008

Let your Kingdom come—let your will be done: Why compromise God’s promise.

Today’s word of encouragement is a prayer for each one of us. Before we die, how do we want to be remembered as? Let us not be defined as a person who compromised his/her destiny and failed to fulfill God’s promises.

There are two main points I hope we would remember from today’s word of encouragement. Do not give in so easily and Do not make any settlement with the enemy.

Do not give in so easily. Compromising our destiny is one area of our lives that we must be alert to. The devil loves it when one of God’s children compromises his destiny. Why? Because that person, FELL SHORT of being fully used in the Kingdom of God. In my opinion, we cannot give in so easily to defeat, to hardship, and to trials. I hope we can refer back to the series on Joseph. Joseph did not compromise his destiny just because of suffering.

Do not make any settlement with the enemy. Great men and women have gone before us, yet they compromised their destiny by entertaining the voice of the enemy. They are written in God’s Word, which is why WE MUST READ HIS WORD!!

Person(s)

Book

Settlement with the devil

Outcome

Adam & Eve

Genesis 3

Ate the fruit because they compromised their relationship with God

-enmity between man and woman

-woman will suffer pain during birth

-man will suffer painful toil for food all the days of our life

Cain

Genesis 4

Compromised his destiny by allowing the devil to reign inside him through anger and jealousy

-First murder ever

-No longer will bear fruit for his work

-Will be a restless wanderer on earth

Abraham and Sarah

Genesis 16

Had no children so Abraham and Sarah compromised their destiny by entertaining the devil by having a child with Hagar.

-Today the root cause of all the conflict in the Middle East stems from this choice that Abraham made

We are all vulnerable to the voice of the enemy. I wish I could go on with my list above. In Exodus we learn about God’s chosen people who left Egypt as slaves. They were in the desert for 40 years because they were not after God but compromised their destiny by allowing the devil to bring fear about their future.

Then there was King Saul, the first king chosen to lead God’s people. Why did we need a human king? God’s people wanted what the world had. King’s were a form of security in THE WORLD’S EYES. God’s chosen people compromised God’s power by allowing the devil to bring fear in their hearts.

Today, we suffer the consequences of what happened in history. Why? Because they serve as reminders by God to us, DON’T COMPROMISE YOUR DESTINY AND ENTERTAIN THE DEVIL. Let us remember that our God is the God of all gods. He is the Lord of all lords. His kingdom will come. His will- WILL be done. Let us not compromise and fall short.
