Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 10 Oct 2007 |

Today’s word of encouragement is about the importance of giving thanks to God when He talks to us. How often does God talk to us? And the next question is, do we remember what God says, or have we forgotten His promises? Reading through the Old Testament, it is interesting that when God spoke to someone, for example Jacob, they would firstly give thanks, and make an altar to thank God. I spent sometime thinking about this today, and realize how significant this act was. Giving thanks to God is putting God first. Yes God has given each of us promises, but in all honesty God can use anyone to do His will. We can learn from the mistakes Joseph made, in Genesis 37. Sometimes God gives us specific dreams and promises, for a reason. It is vital we exercise wisdom with whom we share our dreams and promises with, because if we aren’t careful it may come across as being arrogant and proud. When God speaks to us, it is to instruct, bless, guide, warn, and/or comfort. Today let us ask God if we have put Him first in our lives, or does He come second? Secondly, if we have given thanks for everything that He has done, and has promised. There is power when God speaks to us, we give thanks to Him, we take action with those promises, and we hear clearly what He says. I pray that we would be encouraged today to ask God our promises if we don’t know what they are, and if we do know our promises, I pray that we would always give thanks to Him. Matthew 7:7 says, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” © Oct 2007 Shaun Lee |
