Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 13 Mar 2008

What is the state of your heart? Due to stress at an early age, bad eating habits, an unhealthy lifestyle, and many other factors, there has been an increase in high blood pressure and coronary heart disease.

Just in the United States alone statistics indicate that in 2005 over 80.7 million people have one or more forms of cardiovascular disease and that was in 2005. High blood pressure—73.0 million. Coronary heart disease—16.0 million. Stroke—5.8 million. Heart failure—5.3 million.

Today’s word of encouragement is not going to offer you health tips on improving the quality of your life, but it is about examining the state of your heart. How much of this world is in control of your life and how much of God is in control?

A harden heart. When we fail to recognize that we are walking in sin our hearts are not hardened yet. But it is when we recognize that we have been walking in sin and we do not want to stop the taste of that sin, that is when our hearts have hardened.

A broken heart. Today I pray that we would yearn for our hearts to be broken, because it is only when our hearts are broken that our Potter, our Lord Jesus Christ can once again reshape and remold our hearts.

A humble heart. It takes humility to recognize that we need to change, and that we are running further away from God. It takes humility to want to be remolded, because it is physically, mentally, and emotionally surrendering your life to God such that He is in complete control--LORDSHIP.

A transformed heart. Transformation in our hearts can only take place when we have given everything to God, and we walk with a relationship with God that is real. We may sin, we may once again need to go through the painful process of being broken by God again, but we never give up, why? Because we treasure our relationship with God more than anything in this world.

1 Samuel 2:3-4 3 "Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the LORD is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed. 4 The bows of the warriors are broken, but those who stumbled are armed with strength.”
