Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Which one do you lack? Kindness begets kindness. This is a phrase that has always stuck with me, because till today my father says this to me. Kindness is vital and crucial in our lives especially when we live in a world where everything is about competition, people are hot tempered, impatient, and demanding. Kindness is pouring, love, compassion, empathy, sacrificing time, money, resources, and giving constant prayers, all without ever expecting anything back in return. You know who does this for us everyday? Yes, Our Lord Jesus Christ. The ability to look outwardly from our own needs, desires, issues, insecurities, problems, and showing kindness towards others is precious. Not many have this ability, not many do this on a daily basis, but look at what the Word of God says in 2 Peter 1:6-8, “6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Lord I pray for kindness in our lives so that we would not be ineffective and unproductive in our knowledge of You. Today, if we lack kindness in our daily lives, let’s seek God that He would plant the seed of kindness in our lives. It takes effort, hard work, learning, and making mistakes to grow this seed, but in the end it will bear fruit. © Mar 2008 Shaun Lee archive: www.shauntzen.blogspot.com |
