Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 3 Feb 2008

Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 3 Feb 2008

Psalm 135:15-17 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see; they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is their breath in their mouths.

What defines you? Is it money? Is it beauty? Is it possessions? Titles? Accomplishments? Academics? Your boyfriend/girlfriend? Flirting? Pornography? Sexy clothes? Clubing? Psalm 135:15 says, “The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men.” A lot of these things that define us are made by the hands of men.

Today’s word of encouragement is realizing and being secure in who defines you: GOD! I hope that we would desire to walk with God everyday. Verses 16-17 are key verses and I pray that it will be a reminder to us all what happens when we choose to be defined by men and let the world define us, “They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see; they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is their breath in their mouths.”

Father,

Today we submit to You and You alone. We thank you that You call us sons and daughters. Father, may Psalm 135:15-17 be a daily reminder to us all. Right now we pray that You would give us mouths that would speak only what You tell us to speak. Give us eyes that see only what You want us to see. Ears that only listen to You and dampen all foolish accusations, judgments, criticisms, discouragement, and lies. Lord please give us your breath in our mouths, that we may stand up for righteousness, fearing You and You alone. Lord we thank you. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
