Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 27 Nov 2007

Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 27 Nov 2007

2 Samuel 10:1-4 In the course of time, the king of the Ammonites died, and his son Hanun succeeded him as king. 2 David thought, "I will show kindness to Hanun son of Nahash, just as his father showed kindness to me." So David sent a delegation to express his sympathy to Hanun concerning his father. When David's men came to the land of the Ammonites, 3 the Ammonite nobles said to Hanun their lord, "Do you think David is honoring your father by sending men to you to express sympathy? Hasn't David sent them to you to explore the city and spy it out and overthrow it?" 4 So Hanun seized David's men, shaved off half of each man's beard, cut off their garments in the middle at the buttocks, and sent them away.

It is so important who you listen to and who you gain advice from. Bad people corrupt noble people. Today’s word of encouragement comes from this passage. A reminder that who we chose to spend time with, whom we listen to, and who we get advice from; they all matter!

We are faced with choices and decisions, sometimes cutting off friendships are better than to continue on, why because not all friendships are helping us grow stronger in loving God.

May this word from 2 Samuel 10:1-4 be a constant reminder to value friendships especially great men and women of God who love God. Let us thank God today for these people in our lives. However, let this word also be a reminder that bad people will lead us astray.
