Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 9 Nov 2007 |

Plant the seed, water the seed, and give it time to grow! Giving something time to grow is one of the hardest things to do. Especially when we know it can bear fruit. Don’t give up, time, patience, and self-control are all vital to allowing something to grow. The key in planting the seed is what type of soil we use, the people that we surround ourselves with, can build us up or tear us down. Watering the seed is taking effort, it is learning from our mistakes, and we keep watering the seeds because we know eventually they will bear fruit. So, what does it mean to give time for the seeds to grow? Today’s word of encouragement is these key words; Don’t give up, time, patience, and self-control. What if you are working and developing your gifts and you are waiting to see the fruits, but God’s time is not our time? Would we be willing to wait, to keep watering the seeds, to toil the land, to sow, to work and work and work? Would you be willing to give your best, every moment your best effort? Would we be willing to wait patiently without knowing when we will see the fruits from our hard work? It could take 7 minutes, 7 hours, 7 days, 7 months, 7 years, a great test of our self-control. Mark 4:20 says, 20 Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—thirty, sixty or even a hundred times what was sown." 100 times what was sown, wow!! I bet we all would want to know that our seeds that we planted would reap a harvest, would bear fruit a 100 times what we initially had sown. Would we be willing to wait? Would we be patient? Would we walk by faith and not by sight? How many of us would give up? How many of us have given up on our dreams, given up on people, given up on trying, giving up to love others? Today is all about questions. I hope we are communicating to God and answering these questions and much more... Mark 4:14-20 The farmer sows the word. 15 Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. 16Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. 17But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 18Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; 19but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. 20 Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—thirty, sixty or even a hundred times what was sown." © Oct 2007 Shaun Lee |
