Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 17 May2008

Security and Identity in Christ. What are the foundational building blocks to building a strong sense of security and identity in Christ? No matter where we are at right now with our personal relationship with God, it is vital that we constantly guard our hearts and self-check. The moment we let our guard down, we will be prone to the enemy's attack.

Today I end my series on Security and Identity in Christ. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of guarding our hearts, always attentive, discerning, and aware of the subtle attacks of the enemy. The word of encouragement for today is: Standing firm.

The devil wants us to lose our security in God. Why? Because each of us has a great calling, that will make an impact for God’s kingdom. The devil loves it when God’s children: Give up, lose the strength to preserver, get distracted, and most of all we lose the purpose of what God made us to do. All these things happen when we forget that our identity and security is in God.

Ephesians 6:10-15 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
