Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 15 Jan 2008

Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 15 Jan 2008

Psalm 44:6-7, I do not trust in my bow, my sword does not bring me victory; 7 but you give us victory over our enemies, you put our adversaries to shame.

Today’s word of encouragement is about dying to your “self”. On a daily basis who is in control: God or you? Psalm 44:6 says, “I do not trust in my bow, my sword does not bring me victory.” The amazing thing about King David is that he knew that all the victories during his lifetime were not him, but they were won because of God. David put God first in everything. I hope we too can do the same.

Are there bows and swords in our life that we trust more than God? Is it money? Is it the title that you carry? Is it your company that you started? In our lives, we probably have many hidden bows and swords that we rely on to bring us victory. I hope we realize that if we rely on our own strength, our own fame, fortune, we are going to fail.

Today let us claim Psalm 44:7 over our lives, and say to God, “Father it is you who give us victory over our enemies, and you put our adversaries to shame. Father, it is not me, but you. Father, I place you first in my life.”
