Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 8 Jan 2008

Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 8 Jan 2008

Psalm 7:1 O LORD my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me, 2 or they will tear me like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me.

In times of distress, in times of adversity, and loneliness who will we take refuge in? Without God, most of us take refuge in relationships. Husbands, wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, even our children can be a form of refuge.

We must constantly remind ourselves that God is our refuge. People and friendships sometimes come, go, and end. Sometimes friendships are there for a season, and then we move on to different countries. We move on to do different things, but people and even relationships for that matter, cannot be our END ALL AND BE ALL. GOD IS OUR REFUGE.

God has purposed marriage, and we must treasure that. But again our spouse cannot be our hiding place, they cannot be our refuge.

Life is so uncertain; we don’t have any assurance of long, happy, and healthy life. Those that cling to God, those that run and take refuge in God will always be comforted. Those that do not know their Lord, those that take refuge in the wrong things in life will always feel lost, alone, and scared. GOD IS OUR REFUGE.

As Psalm 7:1 finishes, “save and deliver me from all who pursue me.” All who pursue you and me, the devil is always going to be there to lure us away from God and from the safety of His dwelling place. We must be on guard, discerning, and listening to God.

Don’t let life consume you today! Take refuge in our Lord God.
