Words of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 7 Apr 2009

Picking your battles – blown out of proportion

Picking the right battles in life to fight is so important. I cannot stress this point enough. I pray that we would remember today’s words of encouragement because many people often choose the wrong battles in life to fight and worst of all we blow thing out of proportion.

Only a few people know how to pick the right battles to fight. Our battles in life are fought against satan. Not your mom, not your dad, not your boss, and not your wife. If we cannot understand this, we will continue to pick the wrong battles to fight.

God has given to us the gift of discernment FOR A REASON. I pray that we would desire this gift so that we would enter into every battle with the Lord leading and not our emotions. Without the Lord, we will continue to blow things out of proportion.

Proverbs 15:14 The discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly.

Can we heal our past battles? Can we begin to walk fully into the life that God had planned? These are important questions that we must answer. Everyday is a battle, we have a choice to walk into the battles with God or walk alone.

We must be on guard and choose the right battles in life to fight. Some battles are really a distraction, a waste of time, and a waste of energy. The devil is extremely gifted at his tactics. The devil will use small things that people may say, do, or even circumstances to get us annoyed, and mad. If we continue to allow the enemy to do these things in our lives, we will continue to blow things out of proportion. Simple things in life become difficult. Difficult things in life become impossible, and God becomes a big ZERO in our lives.

No matter what, every battle in life BIG or small are tests of character. When we let small things in life affect us, it says a lot about a person’s character. When small things in life are blown out of proportion, it shows that we lack good character.

Let’s spend some time with God evaluating our character. I hope we will be able to heal with our past, deal with the present the Lord’s way, and seal the future. The Lord’s discernment is always there, it doesn’t take much effort to use it. Are we?
