Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 5 Aug 2008

Aligning your will to God's: Shortcuts in life are worth as much as a shortcut. Today’s word of encouragement is something that we are all familiar with. There are no shortcuts in life. If you were the type of person who got away with a lot of things in high school and university and still managed to get A’s or B’s, I hope that today’s word of encouragement would inspire you to change. In school our priorities are just to do well in school and some subjects we could get away with shortcuts and still do well. But when we start working, when we start a family, this is when shortcuts in life do not help. Aligning our will to God’s is key. There are no shortcuts in reading and understanding the Word of God. There are no shortcuts in prayer. There are no shortcuts to building a strong relationship with God. Are we being impatient? Are we being lazy? Does this sound like you? I want a painless and perfect life. Go to heaven and have eternal life. If that is the ultimate life to have, then I hope we would read the life of Jesus again. Jesus did not come on earth just to have a perfect and painless life. He came for a purpose, a mission, and He fulfilled his mission. Today, what is your mission? What is your purpose? Let’s make a commitment to God that we will not take any shortcuts in fulfilling that mission.
