Words of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 15 Oct 2008

The 6 things the Lord hates, 7 that are detestable to Him

#5 Feet that are quick to rush into evil

Proverbs 6:16-19 There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

When our feet are quick to rush in to evil it is easier to slip and fall. However, when we carry the law of our God in our hearts, we do not slip. (Psalm 37:31) God wants to encourage us by putting things realistically and not to scare us. God is clear. God is direct, and He never confuses. He is not a God of contradiction as well. Everything has a purpose, from the old testament, to the new testament, and up to the present.

There is a clear reason why God exposed to the world the things he hates. We can prolong understanding and implementation. But are we prepared for the consequences. Galatians 6:7, one of my favorite verses. Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.

Self-check: Are we prepared for the consequences? We reap what we sow.

In Psalm 40:2 King David describes to us what God will do when we fully recognize and repent of our sins. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.

Finally, in Romans 10:15 the word of God says, How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news! Are we children of God that bring good news to the world? Why are we quick to run to sin, and slow to run towards God’s destiny for our lives?
