Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 15 Dec 2007

Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 15 Dec 2007

A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control. Proverbs 29:11

Today’s word of encouragement is about how we handle our emotions, and building the gift of self-control. There are going to be times when we are faced with situations that will push the wrong buttons. Some of us when we are faced with confrontation we react emotionally, some of us runaway to try to forget about it, some of us retaliate in anger, and some of us bottle everything inside just to keep peace. All these ways of handling confrontation is not going to help.

Proverbs 29:11 says it best, “A fool gives full vent to his anger.” Yes we all have every right to give full vent of our situations, and respond to conflicts the way we always have and normally do. Whether we respond emotionally, we runaway from issues, we fight back, or we bottle everything inside just to make peace. Notice the “WE” it really is the “me me” attitude. The Word of God continues, “but a wise man keeps himself UNDER CONTROL.”

Today it is my deepest prayer, a yearning to be able to have this ability. To be self-controlled no matter what conflict, crisis, and situation I may be facing. Why do I yearn for this, because I know that if I am under control, God is in control! When I’m not in control of myself, God is not in control! I pray that today can be a breakthrough for all of us. Let God reign, be in control, and lead us through conflict situations.

May today’s word be a reminder to us all, to yearn and develop the gift of self-control.
