Words of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 25 Nov 2008

Words of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 25 Nov 2008

Maximize your time on earth. Jesus did and He only lived for 33yrs.

Procrastination. Are you a procrastinator? Why is there a delay? What are you running away from? Is it your greatest fear or weakness? Do you feel like you are not good enough? Do you doubt God, and believe that He is going to use everyone else except you?

Jonah 1:1-3 The Word of the Lord came to Jonah, Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me. But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed for Tarshish.

Jonah was thrown off the boat and swallowed by a big fish. Inside the fish Jonah spent time with God, praying and seeking God’s will. Even though we may run away from God. Even though we may procrastinate, God still loves us, and is willing to restore us. God could have been angry and could have struck Jonah for disobeying. However, God allowed Jonah to spend another three days in the fish.

When we recognize that we have failed, but most of all disobeyed God, we often fall prey to sorrow, pity, and self-doubt. When we recognized that we have disobeyed God, we must rise on wings of eagles and stride forward, don’t turn back, and walk fully with the Lord.

Jonah finally obeyed God and went to Nineveh and preached there for three days. Imagine even the King of Nineveh took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust (Jonah 3:6). I long for the day when every king, leader, man and woman of influence would bow their knees and give their lives to God.

Because Jonah obeyed God, Nineveh was saved. V.10 When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, He had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction He had threatened.

If we are delaying God work in our lives right now, I hope that the life of Jonah would be a source of inspiration and encouragement. God can use anyone, and God uses ordinary men and women to fulfill His work.
