Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 22 June 2008

What is your journey: You are never alone Let me restate this fact. Each one of us has a unique journey, a unique calling, and a unique purpose. More importantly, individually no one else but you can fulfill that purpose. Though our calling is unique, we are never alone. Today’s word of encouragement is about friendships that last for a lifetime. In my opinion, we need to find friendships that pull each other towards our destinies and not pull us further away from it. Find a mentor, be a mentor. This is a crucial component to find our own journey in life. We need to find mentors that can speak into our lives, and eventually God will call us to mentor others who are younger than us. Throughout the bible it is evident of countless mentorship relationships. Our journey in life is unique to us, but we need teachers and guides to guide us towards that direction. Finding great mentors that LOVE GOD, AND HAVE AN INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM IS ALL WE NEED. Find peers that want to fight alongside with you, and fight along peers that you want to fight with too. I sense that many of us feel alone in this world even though we are surrounded by many friendships. Let’s ask ourselves this question, do we have any friendships that are the type that we know they want to fight alongside us, and I too want to fight alongside them? Peer friendships are just as important as mentoring relationships. These are friendships that one keeps us on our toes, not to allow sin to creep into our lives. Two, these friendships encourage one another to walk closer with God. They make sure we are treating our wives with love. They challenge us to fight temptation. Do we have any friendships like this? Are you this type of friend to others? Proverbs 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend, BUT THE KISSES OF AN ENEMY ARE DECEITFUL.
