Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 19 Oct 2007

Stereotypes, Pressure to live this Christian life, to be this model to the world. We feel like one mistake we make and we are being judged by the world, judged by our friends and family.

Today’s encouragement is learning how to handle judgment. Stereotypes and judgments are a fact of life, if we do not learn to channel them out of our lives; it is only going to eat us alive internally. God’s word to us is very clear, Matt 11:29-30 His burden is light, give it all to Him.

If we don’t channel these judgments and stereotypes, what we are doing is basically allowing the world to conform us. If someone in your office calls you something bad and tells the whole office, how would you respond? If someone calls you fat—are you going to immediately lose weight? All Filipinos are..? All Chinese are…? There are many more stereotypes and judgments that I can talk about, but it would be pointless.

The fact is, we cannot let people conform us, only one person has the power to conform us and that is our Lord Jesus Christ.

It is time that we change our ways. It is time that we learn not to take offense, and remain secure in how God has created us. We must remain secure in our calling for our future as well. The world around us may be changing, some new technology may sound great and we want to ride the trend, but if God’s promises for your life are to go against the trend, who are you going to listen to? God or the World.

Exodus 4:10 Moses said to the LORD, "O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue."

Exodus 4:11 The LORD said to him, "Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD ? 12 Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say."
