Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 5 Sep 2007

Today’s word of encouragement is facing the stormy seas of life with determination, strength, and wisdom. Not our own strength or wisdom that we rely on and rest on, but from our Father in Heaven.

In Acts 27, Paul was in prison and being tried. He was sent to Rome to stand trial, he obeyed and knew that God wanted him to go to Rome, to speak and declare God’s word in that nation. However, how Paul got to Rome, was through harsh conditions, in the coldest winter, without food, many men wanted to give up living, but Paul encouraged these men, even men who persecuted him.

Paul knew that no matter what it took he was going to get to Rome to speak before kings, he didn’t know how big the storms were going to be, or that his life would almost be lost in the harsh winter seas. To be honest most of us would have given up, would have said the storms are too difficult, I don’t think I can make it through, I’m not strong enough, I’m not big enough, I’m not wise enough, I’m not, I’m not, I’m not…but how did Paul respond?

I pray that we would read Acts 27 and reflect on this passage, because the way Paul responds to the storms of life is a clear testimony to us all, that no matter how big the storms of life may seem right now in our lives, God is still with us, He is using us through this time for His purpose and reason. Don’t Give up!!!

Acts 27:34-37, 34 Now I urge you to take some food. You need it to survive. Not one of you will lose a single hair from his head." 35After he said this, he took some bread and gave thanks to God in front of them all. Then he broke it and began to eat. 36 They were all encouraged and ate some food themselves. 37Altogether there were 276 of us on board.
