In Acts 20:28-31 the Word of God says, “Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. 29 I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. 30 Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. 31 So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.
Today’s word of encouragement is focused on these three key principles that Paul states we must do. First, keep watch over ourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made us overseers to. We as the church need to take responsibility to disciple the lost and the young. God has made us overseers to building the church, every generation counts!
Second, be shepherds of the church of God, which Jesus bought with His own blood. We need to take ownership, responsibility to lead the church, taking action in areas and avenues where the nation has walked in sin. The moral fabric of society may decay, may become perverse, may want to build new casinos, but We need to fill the gap, we need to take action, we need to shepherd the church of God, which is His people which he bought by His blood.
Third, be on guard. We need to be ready strategically to fight the devil; we need to be on guard because some will try to deceive us, which reveals why it is so important to read the word of God DAILY!!!
The enemy is at war with us, doing everything in his power to steal what has already been won by our Lord. Today, I pray that we would reflect on these three key points and ask ourselves these questions and answer God directly. Am I keeping watch over myself and all the flock which the Holy Spirit has made me overseer to? Am I a shepherd of the church of God, am I taking ownership, responsibility of what is happening in society? Am I on guard, always aware of the enemies attack, am I reading my Bible everyday so that I am on guard always?
