Today’s word of encouragement is about being a blessing to others and not to be stingy. There are many ways and forms that we are stingy towards others, it can be through money—selfishly keeping it all to ourselves when we know that we can be a blessing to others. We can also be stingy with our time to others, sometimes physically we are present at a party at a dinner or time with our family, yet our minds aren’t there because we are thinking about something else. We are also stingy with our words of encouragement to bless others, we often keep it all inside, or simply because we never asked God to reveal to us how we can be a blessing towards others with our words. Serving others is another way that we are stingy towards others; we sometimes choose not to serve others because we know that we wouldn’t be served back. Let us all remember today that being a blessing towards others is expecting nothing in return.
In Luke 6 Jesus says to us all, 32"If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those who love them. 33And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' do that. 34And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' lend to 'sinners,' expecting to be repaid in full. 35But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
