Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 13 Aug 2007

In Matthew 6:24 the Word of God says, “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”

The word of encouragement for today is to search our true self and clean out our hearts to check if we are mastered by anything other than God. Sometimes if we are not careful, our passions, dreams and future can become masters over us. If we are not careful we may become more passionate about our dreams then serving God. Money is another common master over our lives, especially when we have a lack of it because we will always feel like we are in poverty. Too much money and the devil blinds us for loving God more than money. Simply put, anything that has control over our lives is our master, and if it isn’t God then we must seek Him again.

Everyday is a challenge, it is a daily reminder for us all to give our lives to God, that He is our master, He is leading and directing our steps, and let Him be in control. As we face the week ahead, let us be reminded of this verse, and don’t let the burdens of the world be masters of our lives. Our master is the Lord of Lords, the King of all Kings, Father to the fatherless, and our friend. Lord we thank you, Lord we praise Your name, we lift You on high, we bow before you.
