In Mark 14:3 the word of God says, While Jesus was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head. 4Some of those present were saying indignantly to one another, "Why this waste of perfume? 5It could have been sold for more than a year's wages and the money given to the poor." And they rebuked her harshly. 6"Leave her alone," said Jesus. "Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 7The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them any time you want. But you will not always have me. 8She did what she could. She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial. 9I tell you the truth, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her."
In Luke 7:38 the word of God reveals more about this woman, who stood before Jesus, she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them. Then Jesus goes on to say to the man who rebuked her, “Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. 46You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. 47Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little."
Today’s word of encouragement is to not judge others. Let us all today, remove our titles, our medals, our accomplishments, and begin to look at others as Jesus looked towards this woman. It is so easy for us to judge others, to put down people, especially foreigners working in your own country. Countless times Filipinos all across the world are looked down upon, judged, treated like second class citizens, and much more. However, today restoration is going to take place in our land, and the blessings due will once again be poured upon them. Today, I pray that we would begin to treat others with respect, to look at people the way Jesus would to a slave, to a king, to a gentile, to a ruler, to a prisoner, to a soldier, to a drug addict, to the lost, to one that calls himself/herself a child of God, etc. God can see right through our hearts, and He knows who we really are inside.
Let us make a difference today, let us change our ways, and let us pray that we would take the time to bless people of different cultures, ethnicities, and social status. Father, today we seek your forgiveness, may You humble our hearts and help us not to judge others and put down people, but we would be a blessing to others and look at people the way You have our Lord Jesus Christ.
