Today’s word of encouragement is to simply look at adversity from a different angle, and use it too your advantage rather than a disadvantage or setback. Yes, God allows adversity into our lives not to harm us, not to destroy us, but because of this: Matthew 22:14, “For many are invited, but few are chosen.” Adversity builds our character, it is not enough just to follow the laws, read the Bible, pray, and honestly that is just going through the motions of a religion. Adversity, how we respond to the tests of life, is Faith in Action. God does not promise a pain free life, many are invited but few are chosen.
Adversity is a state of hardship, trials, obstacles, and failure. To say that we as an individual will never face adversity would be foolish. Some of us think that if we are able to minimize adversity it would help remove stress, make life easier. Jesus never promised us a pain free life, we have to wake up and realize life is about adversity. No matter how much we try to minimize adversity, something else is going to come up. Today, let us pray, let us tell God this, Today I choose to respond to adversity differently, I thank you for the tests of life, and Father every time I am faced with adversity, I will pray this verse out loud:
Matthew 22:37
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.”
