Word of Encouragement for Every New Day ~ 4 Apr 2008 |

Today’s word of encouragement is a continuation of my series on, the importance of building strong roots. “Strong Roots” takes time, effort, and constantly growing our relationship with God. The only way that we can grow strong roots is by patiently watering it everyday. Too much water and we kill it. Too little, it dies. What do we water ourselves with? Our selfish nature is like a disease that destroys our roots. If you notice a common trend today, it is the concept of “self-help”. I don’t need you, and I don’t need anyone, I CAN SOLVE MY PROBLEMS MYSELF. Beyond this though, we have become a generation focused on “The me first attitude”, and the self-centered look on life. What would it take for us to break away from our selfish nature? War? Persecution? Famine? Terrorist attacks? Isn’t it sad that for most of us, it takes something drastic in order to realize how selfish we are? I hope we would take the time to evaluate the life of Jesus Christ. There is no one comparable to Him. He selflessly gave up His life for you and for me. Yet, today people around us are suffering, in pain, and yet we barely give them a second of our time to help. Philippians 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. May today’s word of encouragement be engrained in our hearts, watch and see our roots in the Lord grow and bear fruit. © Apr 2008 Shaun Lee. www.everynation.org.sg archive: www.shauntzen.blogspot.com |
